Personal comments
the dorm was located in a student village about 10 minutes by tram outside of town, where the university is. Many students live there. This provided a social and convenient atmosphere for living.

For cheapest and best beers there was always the bar right on the dormitory grounds. (the stussie bar) It was always a blast and they even had dancing till the early dawn.\
The student organizations also run some great parties..and don't miss the monthly party at Waldsee- Rootdown

Freiburg has many cozy and crazy places to go out at night for such a small town. In the StuSie (student dorms) there's a student-run bar with particularly cheap drinks if you can't afford to go out, or just want a nearby place to play foosball and see your friends.

Academic
Course recommendations
They have a wonderful German as a Second Language program. Take any of the courses there. Also, the choices of classes in Germanistik are very broad.
