“Solid State School, With Many Resources”
Alyssa L
Germany, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2022
Overall
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at ASU, especially at Barrett, The Honors College. There are many challenging and engaging courses, which I learned a lot in. I am majoring in Global Management and Economics, and so far my major-specific courses have been amazing— great professors, and depth in subject material. However I have found that many of the Gen-Ed courses are quite bad, and even a waste of time. However, once you get past your Freshman year, you will not have to deal with that. Faculty is very helpful, and there are always a multitude of resources available to you.

It is very hot and sunny and the city of Tempe is a university town. It is a nice place to concentrate on study. There are fairly good places to hang out. Also, airconditioning is pretty good inside of every building. Sun shade and screen are must have items.

“Always a lot to do on and off campus.”
Alexis S
United States,
Marketing and Sales Management, 2025
Overall
Most professors are good, they could improve on professors for more difficult classes. A lot of students in the business school struggle with the harder course materials, but the professors aren't very hands on. This makes it difficult to pass the classes, which can be stressful because of graduating on time, scholarships, etc.

Careers
They offer some international internships, but it's not top priority because most students are looking for a job in-state or in the country. Our Career Centers do offer many events and panels with potential employers which is very helpful for students.

Personal spending habits
Telephone calls were cheaper and the whole billing system differed from Finland. I spent average 60 dollars less money to phone calls in month over U.S. I spent more money to travel, even though the gas was nuts cheap. This is probably becasue I visited and travelled to the places more often that I did in Finland. Overal I spent a litte more money during my stay abroad, this is because of study expenses and higher travel expenses.

What surprised me most was the check books which are still in use. One still gets paycheck every month and pay the rent, electricity and other utility bills with checks - this seemed kind of oldish for me.

I would strongly recomed this university to a person who likes warm weather, active campus life, love to go out and is outgoing and fun loving person but still considers the studing as the most important thing.

Be aware of the Phoenix heat - at summer time its baking you. Take advantage of the desert nature - there are tons of beautiful trails through the desert mountains.
