Whenever people came to visit me I always brought them to Schoenborn cafe - best hot chocolate/Struedel/Wurst in town! Go there! Zauberberg is a great place to go on a Thursday night as all the students go there and Boot is also not to be missed (it's a club on a boat!). Make sure you go to pleanty of Grillpartys and trips to the Festung and the Residenz are not to be missed. In the summer the region is reknowned for its wine festivals. Basically, there are pleanty of things worth doing in this town!

Personal spending habits
I sent more on travel because I wanted to see a bit of the country while I was there, so every free weekend was spent being a tourist; something I just wouldn't do at home! My telephone bills home were legendary as I often talked to friends and family at home and rung too many German mobiles too! Food and housing was considerably cheaper - had a shock when I got home!!

My year abroad counted towards my final grade, and, because most other Erasmus students only had to pass the year, I constantly had to remind my lecturers that I needed a good grade and not just a pass, because I found there was a tendency to just pass Erasmus students. But my percevierance paid off in the end, so I would recommend communicating with your lecturers.

Final comments
Wuerzburg may not be a big city, but it's also a part of South Germany and has its unique atmosphere. To know and to share with others.

At the beginning I found it hard to understand everything in the lectures. But as I became more confident my understanding and proficiency greatly improved. I worked for a few months during the latter half of my year and this job was completely through German, so I feel that my skills improved a lot. At times there were of course misunderstandings, but these became fewer as the year progressed.

All university accommodation is pretty good and well maintained. YOu can chose to either live in a room on your own (cooking facilities provided) or share with 2 other students(-I shared with two Germans). The accommodation was clean and a lot cheaper than at home.
