no one ever fully integrates into chinese society so don't worry if most of your friends are europeans, japanese, and south-east asian

Final comments
In my opinion Beijing is the best place to learn mandarin. You can meet many international students and learn a lot about the Chinese way of life. In addition Beijing is a very cheap place.
