Overall very good experience. I had spoken english before this stay in Bolton. Although I had a little problems specially relating to academic part. Reading books was all right, but writting essays and reports was a bit of struggle as my profesional vocabulary wasn´t that extensive.

Academic
Course recommendations
We had to choose three to four courses to meet the criteria for credits, but three is more than enought although it was tempting from the beginning to take on four as all was new and exciting. Lots of individual work is required which was different from my studies back at home, but tutors were very helpful and we could approach them with our problems anytime.

I wish I had known...
Nothing has really suprised me, just the cost was quite high, which made me to find a work during the last month of my stay.

Personal recommendation
Obviously the University of Bolton is getting better rates every year. However, the town itself is not the best place to live, the university experience was excellent, and it has overcome the negative side of the stay. I valued the profesionalism of the university and practical approach to courses the most.

Final comments
It is worth visiting few places around eg. Manchester and Science Museum, the Lake district is nice, Liverpool and maybe few places along the coast. The town isn´t very safe at night, therefor I would advice to take a cab everywhere you go that time of a day.

Comparing to the housing at campus at my home university the housing in Bolton was more than satisfying. Although it was a little more expensive then living in a shared house. The warden and other personal were very helpful and took care of us, cleanliness, quiet surroundings and personal space (in slovakia rooms are usually shared).

In Bolton there are few chain pubs and cafes as well as restaurants. Few night bars and clubs we went to. Probably Chic and J2 are the most favourites. For students although McCaullies do every wednesday nights the student discos where the entry is only 2pounds with a student card.
