Overall
I wish I had known...
Dijon can get really cold during (jan-april). It rains alot. Another thing to know is that... things work very slow in France, if you are not used to this you can easily get frustrated so don't rush things and you will get used to it.

In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

Personal recommendation
It is a small and nice school, the teachers are friendly and so are the students. If you are used to do lots of reading back home don't worry because you barely open books here, it is much more practical.

The city is beautiful but the nightlife is not so good. Bourgogne is a very beautiful and cultural region. Lyon is a fantastic city and only 60-70 minutes away with TGV. Generally speaking France is a beautiful country and if you get bored of france you can always travel to Italy, Germany and Switzerland... Dijon is very good located for travelling. You can get a studentcard from the train station so you get discounts on the train and TGV, very good if you intend to travel by train.

It was a good place to study, very traditional french city and really close to paris which was awesome. And when travelling its good to get one of the eurorail passes if you plan on travelling alot because thats the cheapest way to travel and well worth the money. I went on a 5 week trip and used the pass everywhere and got more then my moneys worth.

Housing is cheaper in general than in Helsinki, where I live. Traveling has a lot to offer for someone who comes from Finland. Dijon is very well located as it is close to Paris, Lyon, Switzerland and many other interesting places.

There is a very weird housing tax that is collected from the tenants that surprised us and that we thought was illegal but in the end it we found out that it is a common procedure in France.

The cost of living in the Philippines is really lower than that of France, and Dijon, being the capital of the Burgundy region, has a generally higher cost of living than average in France.

You'll really spend more at the beginning, buying things you need to settle in (kitchen and room stuff). In getting an accomodation, you need to deposit guarantee (200-400 euros), and maybe an inscription fee (100-200 euros).

Housing
Type of housing: Residence for girls
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It's fun to live in the residence because the common kitchen is so lively at dinnertime and you meet a lot of other people outside your school, coming from different countries.
But next time I want to experience a more independent living arrangement with my own kitchen, washroom, etc. but preferably with one or two other person.

Some landlords allow a week of settling in before you sign the contract, like in our residence, so don't say yes immediately or you might not be able to change if you realize that don't like the place after a few days.
