I wish I had known...

We were well instructed by the host university- for ex. expected expenses, courses, cultural shock etc.- basically everything was clear

Excellent! Everything was so well organized- the host university did an excellent job- found a nice location dorm, provided me with sufficient information about where to eat, shop, go out etc.
