Chalmers helps me grow and prepare for excellent career opportunities
Titis R
Sweden, Graduate
, 2016
Overall
I have never experienced such an amazing and welcoming environment to study where I am growing academically and professionally.  The courses and methods of studies are hands-on and very practical. I study Architecture and Planning Beyond Sustainability at Chalmers and it has been fascinating that we worked with real clients, real sites, and real challenges in every course. The school is continuously improving by always having an evaluation where students' voices matter the most. The relationship between teachers and students are extremely cooperative and warm. I feel like we are a family and there is no strict hierarchy in the school. It definitely helps everyone to feel welcome and study well in the process. I also love how the school always help us through great discussions, career advisor, job fairs, open lectures, seminars, and workshops. I definitely would recommend Chalmers to students who are looking for an education for great career opportunities.

Pros
High-quality education with excellent hands-on methods of studies
Cons
Living expense in general (in the whole Scandinavia) is considered high compared to many countries, even though Gothenburg is not as expensive as bigger cities.

Student life at Chalmers

Mexico, Graduate

Overall
I'm very impressed of the quality of the lectures at Chalmers. Professors are very well prepared to teach its subject and the material is really well structured. Assignments meet the goal of being challenge enough to complement the understanding of the topics. At Chalmers I learned to be a more commited and organized student by keeping my readings and assignments in order, which allow me to follow the lectures.

In the campus you can also find every week talks and presentations of companies, organizations and state of the art projects working with Chalmers where you attend and even have lunch.

I'm also very satisfied with the social life on the campus, since they provide you with so many associations and clubes where you can share your interests with other students. These groups are either cultural, scientific or for any hobby.  You can always find something to do inside the campus on your free time.

Personal comments
The housing system is very good, but still it is very difficult to find a place on spot. You have to submit your application for accomodation before 3 to 6 months.

The proficiency of natives in English is very wonderful. However, that means that it makes all the more difficult to learn the local language because people tend to switch back to english instead of swedish if they notice that you are not good enough.

Academic
Course recommendations
Be strong and take difficult decisions in advance, because the programme doesn't provide a lot of guidance in itself.

It would be better to redynamise the Lindholmen campus, and make it feel more a part of the school, while now it feels really remote.
