Get your books sent out from home, the textbooks are up to twice as much as they would cost in the UK.

Personal comments
I didnt speak a word of Danish and as bad as it is I left Copenhagen not much wiser about their complicated language! However, this was not a problem at all as practically everyone speaks English to a very high level, which is great. Many Danes speak several languages.

Overall
I wish I had known...
I didnt realise how bitingly cold Copenhagen can be in January! Also I didnt know how widespread the use of bikes was. If you have a bike you can take with you, do. I bought mine out there at a bike auction, however as you dont really know what you are buying this can lead to problems. The bargain I bought kept needing fixed and I would have spent the same buying a new one!!
Also, until you have been there a whil you don't really know where is good to go out - a good website with an english translation is www.aok.dk

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
If you have a chance to study on exchange here, jump at it. It is a lovely city, with good accommadation and a big International Student community. The international office at the school are very helpful and organised.

The cost of living can be quite high, however, the longer you are there you realise the more affordable supermarkets etc.. I spent a lot more in my first couple of months.

Telephone, Travel, Nightlife, Food, Overall:
was more expensive than at home.
Housing:
was the same price as at home.
Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
Alcohol is seriously expensive! Also, buy a travel pass as you save a lot of money. Mobile phone top up cards are also really expensive, might be worth considering taking your home mobile on roaming.

As an international student - you have to go to "Student House!" There are tonnes of really nice bars and cafes. We went to Enzo, Parkcafe and The Globe a lot. Also if you are staying in Valby, check out the Guinness Pub on Valby Langgade, they used to give girls free beer on a tuesday night!

Housing
Type of housing: Changed from a host family to residence hall
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living in one of the University halls of residence is definately the best idea as you meet all the other exchange students. There are several in the city centre which are great. I lived in Valbygardsvej which is good fun but a longer cycle into the city! (10 minutes!)
