IECS organises an integration weekend that helps everyone get to know each other and see a bit of Europe- ours was in Rome!
Jimmy's Bar, The Irish Times and Academie de la Bière are probably the best spots i've found. Day trips to Germany for cheap shopping should be done whenever possible!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
There is more space and freedom when living in a private appartment. I am living with a French person which is very helpful for improving my language skills.

Personal comments
University housing is simpler than renting a private appartment because students are given a lot of help at the beginning on filling out important forms and knowing their right. I didn't have this help. University accomodation is cheaper but in Strasbourg it is usually not furnished so there are extra expenses.

Personal comments
Some of the teachers do not teach in their native languages, which can cause problems for most of them. It should also be easier to receive feedback on personal performance.

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
The way of teaching is quite varied and it made a welcome change from being graded solely on exam results. Integration on foreign students is very important here and they really made us feel welcome.

It is very expense to fly into Strasbourg airport. Ryanair fly to Baden Baden which is quite close. Paris is four hours away by train.
Take the boat tour on your first day to see the whole city.

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings<br>
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
I lived at home in Ireland so I didn't pay rent. I have travelled a lot here so those expenses are high. Everyday spending such as on groceries is cheaper in France and college nights out are much cheaper.

Personal comments
Carte 12-25 will save on rail expenses.
I spent a lot of money in the beginning on phone calls home before I found the EuroLatina card. This is by far the best international phone card.
Toiletries and groceries are all cheaper in Germany.
