We only studied language from 8.30am-11.45am. It would be better to offer a variety of optional courses for the international students to pursue in the afternoons (instructed in the target language)

East China Normal University has allowed me to learn and improve my Chinese and English with the dual language program. Teachers are quick to assist the students. The teaching method is dynamic, and with the new online courses, one can learn at one's own pace. Most of the courses are rich in content and easy to understand. The homework load is enough to keep you active and engaged. I would recommend it.

Campus life is fantastic and diverse. The campus where I study is located in the city center, close to restaurants, metro stations, shopping malls, etc. The personnel at the student center service is welcoming and always helpful.

Chinese city life is very centralized so if the campus is located within the city or closer to the main sections of the city, the easier it is for transportation. Shanghai has everything anyone can ask for. Shopping streets, sightseeing, museums, and shows. Nightlife tends to end around 3 or 4 in the morning, but there are many pockets of bars/clubs around the city. You just have to pick your destination. Because the city is changing so fast, bars and clubs (as with shops and restaurants too) sometimes apprears and disappears without notice. But the ones that are quite big is most likely going to stay in one place.

Logement
Type de logement: (first 3 months) then rented flat independentl
Organisé par: Université d'accueil
Si j'y retournais je choisirais: Appartement/maison
Pourquoi?
I only decided to reside on the university campus for the first few months because it was an easy option for me to settle in. Once I felt more at home in Shanghai I moved out of the university accommodation and rented a flat independently. I would recommend this to future students because it gives you time to decide how to find a good apartment and know exactly where you want to live. It is also convenient living on campus at the beginning (meet new people, easy to find classes...)

With students and teachers I spoke english but outside the campus I spoke chinese. In shanghai, it was difficult but in Beijing the people understand the Mandarin (Putonghua) more than Shanghai people. Because the dialect is different between chinese provinces.
