You can say that nobody learnt Dutch, but all of us improved are English a lot. It was easy to communicate with teachers, local students and even locals themselves. No communications problems at all.

In the beginning my housemates gave my some lessons of Dutch but everyone speaks English so well in Rotterdam that I wasn't boost to speak the local language. I practice English and my French!

recommend to choose a country with a different language of instruction than mother tongue. for me it was a great experience to speak to languages aside from my mother tongue almost every day

Had no problems in English, since the 6 months I spent in Rotterdam helped me consolidate my proficency in English. Wanted to learn some Dutch but finally avoided due to the few contacts with locals and their excellent level in English.

The Dutch speak very good English so I did not have any communication problems. Since I know German I was able to understand the essentials of written Dutch.

Very interesting experience. Everyone speaks english which makes it easier to communicate. Sometimes, I use Dutch language that I picked from TV and people.
