Ciro S
Spain, Graduate
Translation/Interpretation, 2022
Overall

I wish I had known...
I wish I had known it was going to be so HOT! I also wish I had realized that, in order to blend in, you can't wear jeans and a shirt...they all dress up over there (even in 104 degree weather!)

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
Through living with a host famlily you are forced to converse in Spanish. In addition you learn abut subtle cultural differences that are not always apparent through classroom instruction.

Personal comments
I was lucky in that the host families I lived with were wonderful people, the woman of the house even insisted upon being called 'la madre'.

Housing
Type of housing: I resided with a local friend.
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: I would independently rent a room or apartment.
Why?
I would find independent housing in order to facilitate more genuine interaction with the local culture, above the school environment.
