Apartments, especially when shared, are very affordable in Valencia. It did get cold in the winter though, as no central heating was installed.

Personal comments
There are plenty of bars and nightclubs both in the University area, as well as in the old part of town. Event not to be missed is the yearly fiest of Las Fallas, which takes place in March. As that was after my studies ended, it gave me a good excuse to return to this lovely city.

Get there early to have time to get to know the people you are moving in with.
If you are Swedish, please note that you are required to take much more credits than students from most other nations to be able to fully account for them back home.

Interaction with local students
Personal comments
Teachers should benefit from increased use of visual aids (virtually non-existent at the time), as well as hand-outs and references to other written material. As a foreing student it is hard to follow a teacher speaking very fast about a new subject, in a very large classroam and leaving little room for questions.

Personal comments
One on one with spanish speakers I am comfortable, even when discussing more difficult subjects. However when involved in discussions in a larger group of native speakers as well as in noisy environments, it is hard to keep up sometimes.
