Personal comments
At the beginning I was scared by the difficulty I had understanding other students because of speed and slang. On the other hand, I didn't hav any problem to understand teachers but was slow for my reading assignments.
Having an American roommate helped me a lot to adapt and interact with other American students and also in everyday life.

Final comments
It's very easy to travel from Washington DC to others city on the east coast but don't hesitate to compare geryhound buses and flight tickets because you can pay 10$ more by air but save 9 or 10 hours which is good for weekends.(website:studentuniverse) One last thing if you want to go to NY take the "chinatown buses", it's very unexpensive.

I was lucky because my American roommate was very nice and we got alng pretty well. I didn't like the common kitchen which was very dirty but enjoyed interacting with so many students. Accomodations for laundry and study lounge were great.
