In france, you either speak french, or not communicate at all. Students usually communicate in other languages, but in all other areas of life you have to speak french. So it is good for practicing.

I spoke both French and English with the exchange students and French with the local people. The French people had most of the time a positive attitude towards exchange students' French speaking.

Interactions between local and international students are good provided you speak english or French, but people tend to speak to you only in english if they know that you are a foreigner

As I've said before, speaking good French is necessary if you want to integrate with local students. Otherwise it won't be fun meeting them and you'll end up hanging out with exchange students (which can also be quite fun!)

not enough interaction with local students. you can't really improve your language skills if you learn the grammar mistakes of other exchange students.

first month, it's hard in the course, but after one year, and with the trainning programm in some company, I had got more communication skills and language capabilities, it's very nice to have this experience!!
