A lot of exchange students live in Pasila and if you take the costs into consideration it is a good location (5 mins away from the centre). The appartment is wel equiped with an oven, freezer and microwave

The appartment itself is not very nice, in the first days everybody was depressed but once you get used to it you'll have a great time in pasila. More info about the specific housing possibilities good have been given to the students on forehand.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The student housing association provided very large, clean, well equipped apartments for reasonable prices. Also they were very flexible on arrival/departure times so if you had to stay longer or leave early it was possible to cancel your contract without penalty

Personal comments
I wanted to improve my English and I think I improved it because the courses were in English and because I spoke English every day with Finnish and foreign students. I could not speak Finnish so I tried to learn the language but it is very different from every other languages and it is very difficult to learn. So I know basic words to be able to go shopping. But Finnish people speak english very well so it was not a problem.

I spent less in telephone because it was useless than in my home country, I spent less in housing because it was a student housing furthermore in flatmating. I spent more in food and overall because the cost of life is higher then in my country. Finally I spent more in nightlife and travels because I enjoy the life here and I discovered the country and the neighbouring countries.
