As Belgium has two official languages it is even more difficult, because I don't know any of them. On average, some misunderstanding appeared quite often in public places. In university no problems occured, as mostly everybody speaks very good English.

I came to learn French. However, most people spoke English or wanted to so I ended up not improving my French very much. There was a large presence of Italian students So now I am learning Italian and will move there soon an hopefully become fluent.

Try to travel a lot in Belgium (it's a small country you can visit almost everything!!), and/or from belgium (it's the heart of Europe)...

Differences in level of students - only best Universities from new EU countries (with 1 or 2 students allowed to come) and lots of people from Spanish midlands ;)
