as no one was speaking French and I had some bad comments about french culture, i had to struggle a bit. after several times it was alright, dutch people were more interactive.

In the Netherlands it is quite difficult to practice the language because people change to English or German when they find out that you do not speak their language.

There was a Dutch culture and language course available but i was unable to take it due to timetable clashes in subjects that i was required to take

i found that even outside of the university most people had a basic grasp of english and were very willing to speak english.

Being a native english speaker, it was very easy for me to communicate with everyone. However, if you have concerns about your level of english, don't worry!! There are plenty of people there to help you and by the time the experience is over you will improve your english
