All the bars close to the center of Montpellier are brilliant. Lots of small cafes and nice bars. Unfortunately they close early - to really party all night you have to go outside the city to the big discos. It works but can not be done every weekend. It's enough with the bars in the Center. Which ones are popular changes a lot. Just keep an eye out for posters and talk to people where to go!

South of France was much less expensive than Sweden or Finland. I spent probably 3/4 of what I did in Sweden and still I wasn't saving. Everything was less expensive for me.

You can get financial help from the CAF to pay your rent when you are a student. It's quite a significant contribution. Go shopping for groceries in the supermarkets and not the expensive shops in the city center.

Concerning the nightlife there are many possibilities but there is no variety. I love to do sports and even found a triathlonclub here (usn montpellier), I really enjoy being with the people there.
