Enjoy what you're doing and have fun, while studying hard. Fix yourself with some goals that will keep you in focus, so that you know what to do when it's needed...and limit the partying :-)

Pourquoi?
Living off-campus, you have more liberty and a lot less distractions.
For the party animals, I noticed that when living off-campus you get more information on the different parties going on in town.
It is also a lot cheaper and you can make your own food according to your own tastes.

I enjoyed my first semester at ISU, while living on-campus, as it game me a broad view of university life and time to settle down.

I really didn't have major problems understanding the local accent as it might be a concern. They do not use a lot of slang, just a few words particular to only that region.
