I really didn't have major problems understanding the local accent as it might be a concern. They do not use a lot of slang, just a few words particular to only that region.

Maintain a monthly sheet where you record all your expenses and revenues. Revenues might include scholarships. This will indicate you where you could make adjustments and maybe save some money.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living off-campus, you have more liberty and a lot less distractions.
For the party animals, I noticed that when living off-campus you get more information on the different parties going on in town.
It is also a lot cheaper and you can make your own food according to your own tastes.
