If you have the ability of learning foreign languages, you'll learn because the situation forces you to. If not, I suggest to have a rather high level of knowledge on the foreign language before going abroad.

I wish I had known that I could buy my inssurance in France and that I didn't need to buy it in my home country before going, health inssurance is very good and unexpensive in France

They have a limited number of accomodation in this hall residence for students. Otherwise each exchange student needs to find his/her own place but sometimes they can stay at the residence for a few days while they find a place.
