Bremen has lots of cafes and places to go. There are some very nice house-clubs like "Rosige Zeiten" and Mexican places one could visit. Time is the matter to be considered though. www.bremen.de has decent info (in German) on night-life. "Schlachte" is the place to go, and you won't miss it when you're around in Bremen.

The language of instruction at my host University is English, at which I am fluent. The understanding and communication in everyday life goes without any problem. I am also well advanced in German and I can communicate with the students of the local country-Germans, even though everyone of them speaks English very well.

Let's see how the uni manages

Hello,

To all of you, I can say that Jacobs is a really closed community. You will get to know all 600 or so people on campus in 2 months at the most. Even if you want to socialize outside, it is kind of difficult as you need to travel by train and your taxi back will be 40+ euro.

The education there is sound. From time to time they hire shit educators (not calling them professors on purpose), For most of the programs related to maths and sciences you will be fine.

They also do not tell you that people go shit nutz in this environment. There were suicides(people so frustrated that they jumped out of a window) and attempts over my years there.

If you want to chose another uni, please do so. Jacobs is not the place for a sane person.

Course recommendations
Yeah, don't get carried away. You can choose a lot of courses, but you will not be able to do too well then. The work load is a lot and you do have to put in your own effort.
