John Cabot was very accommodating with any problems that arose in housing. There was always one source to go to for answers and they would make the contacts necessary to answer my questions.

With the university, there was no language barrier. It is an American school that teaches in English. Within the country, the experience of not being a native speaker of Italian was interesting. People were great about speaking English or speaking Italian slowly.

Overall
John Cabot University was the best choice of my life. i like everything here, from friends to classes and professors, and JCU community and its clubs. I'm currently a sophomore here at JCU and i loved every semester. I was born in Milan, the i moved to Genova (Italy), and Morocco and now Rome. JCU has a really strong Career Service Center that send emails during the whole year and holds seminars and events to help you find the perfect internship or work position for you. John Cabot University is also the place where i met and i find friends that i know i will be in contact for life. One of the things that i love the most about JCU is the diverse community that we have, every day you meet people coming from different parts of the worlds and we al hace different background and cultures.
I couldn't have made a better choice then this.

Why?
I enjoyed being able to have a sense of self in the middle of a foreign country. It was nice to have a place I could come home to and feel was mine. Also I feel it was a great way to experience really living in Rome. I felt independent and learned how to solve typical household problems common to the city (water, aplliances, cooking etc). I enjoyed solving these puzzles for myself and felt a great sense of accomplishment running my own home in the middle of such a new environment without the shortcuts that would have been provided by a family stay.

I felt the housing was accomadating but still authentic. We had the comforts of home without losing a sense of life in Rome. Our apartment was lovely, in the heart of Trestevere near the college. If I could I would stay in the same place on my next trip.

I wish I had known...
Know that it will be a bigger culture shock to re-enter your home country after your abroad experience than when you first arrive in the foreign country. Also, meet the locals as soon as you get there, and they can provide you with priceless information.

Final comments
Traveling changed my perspective of life. My personal belief is that Americans work for status and Italians work to have money to live on. The stress level of the average American would be greatly reduced if they took some pointers from the Italians.

Just Amazing

Overall
The overall experience is positive, and here is why: professors do their best so that one could succeed, study abroad options are amazing,  the university is very multicultural, campuses are just gorgeous as well as the area they are located in (lots of cool places one could go to, party), the food on campus is way better than in any school in the US (personal experience). JCU offers a bunch of housing options some of them fairly better than others (Gianicolo - amazing, Lungara - feels like a 4star hotel). The university is the process of constant renewal: every semester they improve lots of things, even open new studying areas.
