Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because you can have all the facilities on your own, and that is important for an independent life.

I think it was one of the best experiences in my life. I adore travelling and knowing other countries and coltures. Furthermore Finland is totally different than Spain, and i am totally sure that i could experince a lot of things that hadn't been possible in another way. Plus i have learned english and i have met people from all over the world, we could share our points of view, languages, cultures, ways of life, etc.

Overall
I don't recommend this University in its current state, especially for the Mechanical Engineering Master Studies Course. I have never experienced such unorganized courses, where I often felt like there was a lot of overlap between courses and teachers were made to focus more on other projects and research. Generally the Master studies don't feel coherent, and often courses were restructured, and we were left to be the first students to test the new structure. Sometimes courses lacked the motivational aspect, where the teachers didn't present themselves interested in the course or where the course content or tasks were just too asinine or relevant to work life or actually advanced enough to make one excited to learn about it. There are other universities where you could learn more things and have a fun time learning are out there. Of course, if you are mainly interested in partying and passing courses, this might be for you. But otherwise, I would recommend choosing somewhere else.

I already spoke english before i came here, so learning it or practicing it was never a factor. As for finnish, it is a very different language. The school offers a couple of Finnish for Foreigners courses, which are not bad. I took both courses just for learning something about the culture and the language but there is really no need for it, as most of the time you can get along fine with english, and also because most finns don't want to speak with you.

Housing at Lappeenranta is good, facilities are okay, and is conducive place for students to live not just to study but meet and socialize with others as well.

It is difficult to learn and practice the language because everyday, we still speak English and hear English from the other students we interact with.. There was no chance to practice the Finnish courses that we have.

I wished I had known that buying eyeglasses here is so expensive. And I wish I should have brought my party clothes.
