Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
Room sharing with the students would be the easiest and cheapest way for accomodation. There are plenty of International students and many of them chose the room sharing in nearby apartments. If one can get graduate assistantship or scholarship then he or she can have choice to move into on campus dormatories or own the apartment individually.

Personal comments
There are four major buildings for accomodation on campus. Two are near the computer lab and the other two are near library and cafeteria. A person has to pay also for food in cafeteria whoever decides to stay on campus. The halls are located on campus so distance to classes are not more than 2 to 3 minutes. On campus security is quiet well. Boys and girls cannot stay together and that is the rule. Accomodation on campus is still costlier than room sharing in nearby apartments. The nearby area named Kearny is better to stay and easy transportation of bus is available to university at 1.10 USD one way. The University provides free shuttle service to kearny and other nearer area like newark after 4 pm to 11 pm.

Academic
Course recommendations
If you are interested, i recommend any CIS (computer science ) course under professor Statica, any MIS course under Dr. Chakrabarti. CIS 652, 451 (data communication and networks) and MIS 635, 625 (Management of Telecomm and E-commerce strategies) are my favorite. MGMT 692 and 492 (492 under prof. Gopalkrishnan and 692 under Prof. Kirchhoff) are recommended.

Personal comments
All the classes are in English except any literature classes which I am not aware of. The University is a public research university and many international students (Mostly Asian - India,China - and African) are studying in the university. Thus, your ability to understand and to speak convincing english will be tested like anything. Sometimes you do not understand what exactly a student coming from another culture is speaking about or sometimes you need patience to explain in english to the other students. But it is not cumbersome and it is fun. The test of English is far greater than of TOEFL :)

In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
It has become costly now. The cafeteria is also costlier than near by campus restuarants!

Final comments
Travelling is not a problem in New Jersey and New York City. To reach New York City, one has to take Path Train that are available from Penn Station. The university also provides shuttle service to Penn Station. From Penn Station one can easily go to other states and go to Newark Intl. Airport (20 minutes by bus 4 dollars one way). From the Penn station, one can also go to south jersey (princeton university area) by bus. Only thing is you ought to have the time.

Rate of Exchange does matter. You have to cut unnecessarry expenses. Accomodation is no choice but to pay whatever rate is prevailing compared to the home country.
