Travel Tips: there're cheap deals on the internet (southwest.com, hotels.com, expedia.com). Try to gather as much information as possible about your exchange university from former exchange students prior to your departure. This helps a lot for your preparation. Enjoy life on campus at N.C. State!!

Don't expect university to help when it comes to travelling or anything else. You must take initiative. If you're into independent planning you'll love it, otherwise better choose a different place.

renting car: better to book online in Austria - cheaper!!! flying: there are plenty of low-cost airlines in America if you want to go on a journey over Thanksgiving you should book more than 4 months in advance - peak season

Especiall healthy food was more expensive than it is in Austria, as well as the phone since I had to buy a phone card instead of having a contract with a company what is usually cheper. I also travelled more than I would back home in Europe. Nightlife was definitely cheaper than in Vienna.
