Do not use traveller's checks, they are useless. Use a debit card or credit card for purchases and use the ATM machines that are plentiful.

Watch your belongings on the metro/RER lines; I watched mine and my wallet was stolen. Luckily my passport was in a separate location. Do not keep your passport in your wallet. Also, try not to speak English on public transportation, for it sometimes draws unwanted attention to yourself.

This program provided me with the best experience of my life; getting to speak French with the natives and getting to make French friends. It's an irreplaceable experience.

I was very pleased with the housing option, the foyer, because it had all of the services I could need at a very affordable price. I had my own room, with a refridgerator, and shared a kitchen on my floor. Aside from that, there was a larger kitchen in the common area of the building as well as an internet/computer lab. It was very safe and there was always someone on duty to serve as the security and help for the building.

I loved the Frog and Princess café in Saint Germain des Pres as well as the cafés in St. Michel. I enjoyed going to Bastille at night because there was always a lot of people with whom I could mingle and mix and the restaurants and bars were fun, affordable and exciting!
