CoThe University was originally envisaged as occupying a site adjacent to the University of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby. In its first year the then Institute shared temporary premises with the Idubada Technical and Trade School in Port Morsby. In June 1967 the present 500 acre campus area was obtained. It is located approximately 9 kilometers from the center of Lae.
