Stay clear of central Lima at night too risky in terms of safety. The district of Milaflores is ok for clubs and pubs, although it is very touristy and fairly expensive. I recommend the district of Barranco, much mkore fun and traditional of Peruvian culture - great fun!

Don't take travellers cheques, the banks charge a high rate to exchange them. Stick to the atm machines - using your check-in account card NOT your credit cards which are also quite expensive

Si lo hubiera sabido...
Had exhausting it is to live in Lima. Its a pretty dangerous city, You can't afford to fully relax when you go out, have to be aware all the time of your surroundings. The city is very chaotic and noisy. The most depressing thing is the weather! There's a permanent grey sky and you never see the sun! Except during the 3 months of summer (December, January, February).

If you plan to study in Lima, I STRONGLY recommend you go to La Catolica. All the staff (especially the internationaL dept), tutors and students are very friendly and helpful!

Apart from Lima, Peru is one of the most amazing countries on earth!!! (I'm not exagerrating).
I recommend you travel as much as possible, there's so much to see and do. The country has everything, Amazon rainforest, the Andes, incredible desert to stretches forever, and a beautiful coast in the far north! It has to be one of the best destinations in Latin America.
