I wish I had known...
I wish i had known more about the college. It was an interesting experience, but if i did it again I would try to go to a local college in a residential area of london.

If you don't mind the cost, and really want to stay in central London, this is the way to go. If you really want to experience local culture, and meet locals, look into schools outside of central london or london at all. At first it's very exciting to live in central london, but after a while you realize it's mostly tourists and rich people. Go out and explore some of the boroughs when you have a chance.

Honestly, if you're there to travel or just experience the place. Just try to get an odd job and live there for a while instead of doing study abroad. When i was there, i found school just held me back from doing what i really wanted to do. You could do alot of travelling or live fairly comfortably with the money you spend on tuition there. Take advantage of Heathrow while you're there, you can fly to alot of exotic places for cheap (compared to fares from the US). I went to Dubai after Finals. Also, try to rent a car on a trip to Italy or France, it's tons of fun. there's all sorts of picturesque winding roads and quaint little towns that no one else visits.

I wish I had known...
I wish I'd been more familiar with London's bus system. For those not from cities with public transportation (I'm from a rural farm town), it can be pretty confusing! I also wish I'd been told basic things, like in England, sales tax is already included, whether or not you're supposed to tip, etc.

Do lots of internet research when looking for cheap travel deals--it's time-consuming, but it pays off! Also, if you don't take the tube very often, buying the 10-ticket cachets is cheaper than getting a ticket every time you take it. Walking is the best way to get around, though, because then you get to see everything, and central London is smaller than it looks. And it rains a lot, but it's cheaper to buy an umbrella there than in the US. Have fun!

Personal spending habits
I don't have time at home to take in much nightlife or traveling, so of course I took full advantage of the opportunities in London. Food at the cafeteria was already paid for with my room/board, but off-campus food cost more than at home because I had it more often due to traveling. Also, I bought a mobile phone there, and since all my calls were international, of course it cost more than at home. I may have spent more in flat monetary numbers, but I got back so much more in value than I would have at home.

If your bank charges per transaction for ATM withdrawals, take out more money at once--like, enough for the week instead of for the day. Eventually, the fees you save add up to a pretty significant amount. All the books you'd need can be found in the college library, so you really don't need to buy any. The computer labs are pretty busy, but if you're patient, you should have no trouble getting online. Also, credit cards are good to have because the exchange rates are often better than what you get with ATMs--just don't go overboard with spending. I got back almost a year ago, and I'm still paying my balance off!

Academic
Course recommendations
In general, I would say they are rather boring. Take classes you are interested in and have a lot of field trips. Otherwise lectures are quite dry and boring, and classroom seating pretty uncomfortable.

There's not really any "local" students. Regent's is kind of weird, there's 3 schools there. Mostly, the school is comprised of the American study abroad students, and the european business students. The europeans there come from VERY wealthy families (it's an expensive school by european standards). the ones you manage to get to know will probably be quite interesting, but most are snobbish and have coke problems (not joking). When i was there there were 2 saudi princesses and a russian model just to name a few. Most of them drive Porsches and BMWs, one even came in a Lamborghini on occasion. It's pretty ridiculous.

Since its a small school it becomes its own little community. Even if they tell you not to bring your laptop you should still bring it a lot of people used it to play music, or you can connect to the regents server and use the internet. Also great(but expensive) shopping, i thought better than Paris, especially at Topshop.
