i think it's quite good university, being the oldest one in the country adds a bit of prestige

german uni system is veruy different from UK , if it teachs u one thing it's organisation cos u have to plan your studies yourself although teachers and fellow studenst are here to help
We have a center for internships where we can get information about internships, especially for our studies. If you login in to Moodle for internship you will receive emails with offers from the office.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time & energy in getting fully settled: looking for a nice (& payable!) room, getting all the administrative papers right, choosing your courses, etc. The sooner you get this settled, the better!

Great atmosphere to study, beautiful scenery to explore, especially if you bring a good ATB. But don't go much longer than a year, Heidelberg is small.
