Live with a family, travel to Lake Baikal in the third class of a train. there you will have contact to half of the waggon within 4 hours - (it's 4 days to arrive at lake Baikal from Moscow) Try to visit Kungur in the Ural Mountains - a lovely city

You can learn Russian best by travelling around and getting into contact with locals, they are quite open and warm especially if you come from Germany. For doing so, basic skills in Russian are obligatory.

Go there for the City, which is amazing for night life, architecture, history and culture.
Go there to learn Russian, but not at school. It's better to learn in working context with Russian speakers or in meeting new people outside campus.

1. The winter in Moscow is very cold!! 2. Do not coose housing facilities near the railway stations;
3. Try to find an apartment near the metro;
4. Apply to solid large companies and let them find an apartment for you. They will take quite a lot of money, but at least it is safe;
5. Do not walk alone by night. Moscow is an unsafe city. Watch out! :)
