Personal comments
Three different colleges, home stay is also possible, but mostly too expensive. Life in college is sometimes chaotic and loud, but you have always someone (your room mates or the accomodation assistants, who are Australian students at this uni)who can help you.

If you love nature and animals that's the perfect uni for you. This uni has a koala hospital on its premises and you can help them (caring for sick and injured koalas).

If you have any (!) problems just go to the International Office (on campus) and ask for help. They do almost everything for you and are really nice and dedicated. It's one of the most amazing instituitions I've ever seen. Always friendly, always relaxed.

Academic
Course recommendations
The only course I took and can't recommend is Business Finance as the teacher is only reading from the book, doesn't explain anything and hardly any student is able to follow. Didn't learn anything in this course. The range of courses is amazing! Most popular courses are Photography, Outdoor education (2 trips included) and Perspectives on Australia. Workload varies tremendously. Some units just have some little tests, others require four assignments and an exam.

There should be more equality. I had to write 5 assignments, do 1 presentation and sit 3 exams. Others didn't have any exams and/or presentations at all.

Well, you just have to travel a lot in such a country! :-) Calling home is pretty inexpensive. Just buy a calling card for a public telephone - ca. 5 cents (!) per minute. So you really can afford to talk for hours!!

Check wether your home bank has a partner bank in Australia (for Germany: Deutsche Bank's partner Bank is Westpac). Then you don't have to pay any fees when getting money at an ATM.
