Get a car to go around the area. Stoke-on-trent is a dump but a few miles outside the city things clear up and the surroundings are actually very nice.
Alton Towers (Britain's largest themepark) is just 30min drive away

Stoke-on-Trent itself is an absolute dump, but barring the location the quality of teaching on the course was pathetic. They hired guys who had washed out in the industry who thought they knew everything but actually couldn’t teach to save their lives. The lecturers thought they could play at teacher, but all you ever got was vague sound bites and useless anecdotes.
I learned much more doing work experience than I ever did on the course. Save your money and either go elsewhere or get a job straight away and learn on the job.
