- Most of Thai professors are just plain bad. Why don't you tell me all about that time you studied in France and say nothing about, y'know, lecture and its material? Screaming at me like I'm 5? Badmouthing your colleagues in front of the entire class? One class that lasts 3 hours? Sure, let's see that ping-pong show in Patpong because you're teaching a class about feminism and that makes sense. When the course started, we were made sure to see that Dr Chanintira na Thalang had both British and Thai citizenship (as well as her Chanel purse, very very important), and her humble-bragging throughout the course. Really, people go to study so some pompous wanna-be British excuse for a professor would hold them down. Studying? Empowerment? Nah. Why would you want to do well in your university studies? If people like this were in charge of the whole program and administration, it's clear why it's so bad. These people care more about their ego and pomposity than actually imparting knowledge on other students. - Most of Thai professors are just plain bad. Group work is something else. If you do well, you make your fellow Thai students "lose face" which leads to series of petty backstabbing and more gossip. See how you like studying with a bunch of stuck up children who are doing courses you did at your high-school at a university level.

Thai language is really hard to learn. Most of my classes were in English. I was surprised how some of the professors didn't master grammar because how did they get their PhD's? Professor Jirawan's classes were in this botched English because she spend her education in France. Ok fair enough since most of us didn't speak Thai. But listening to someone's lecture for 3 hours in botched English witha French accent with incorrect grammar? How do you hold your job there FOR SO LONG like that?

Si j'avais su
- Snotty, vapid and snobby Thai students. Here to make some local friends? Let me know how that works out. Gossping and bragging. I've never had more vapid conversations then when I studied there. People ask you "Where are U from? Why U come here?" so they could share their story about that time they did an exchange in Switzerland. Group work is something else. If you do well, you make your fellow Thai students "lose face" which leads to series of petty backstabbing and more gossip. See how you like studying with a bunch of stuck up children who are doing courses you did at your high-school at a university level. - Most of Thai professors are just plain bad. Sure, let's see that ping-pong show in Patpong because you're teaching a class about feminism and that makes sense. - Completely useless admin -- sandbagging, misplacing your documents and delaying things that need to be done. You need someone to actually DO their job? Some help? Some support? Fairness? Privacy? Nah, forget about it. With either three, you'll feel like walking on eggshells. No matter how nice or polite you are, you can't change things above. Thai people at TU are not critical and hateful *in your face*. You'll feel something is wrong and that you can cut tension with a knife. It won't hit you all at once. Maybe you'll just realize you had no positive experiences - Building is a disgrace. No proper library. A few buildings have AC. You have a few pamphlets for interesting lectures or things going on but you'll be shocked how little opportunities they have. Also, TU campus at The Prachan has monuments for massacre that actually happened some time ago. Maybe you want to study here because you want to do some exchange and travel and have fun. Classes are not hard. Only going to a BAD university does effect your whole exchange. If university is bad, then you won't learn anything properly NOR have fun.

A lot of your experience depends on how you gel with other exchange students. I would advise against going to Thammasat and going to Bangkok University which is actually located in central Bangkok. Even though still similar problems (rich kids who brag and useless professors) it has other factors that might help you actually *enjoy* your exchange. Nobody goes to Bangkok because they expect their education to be good. However, you need SOME quality even if you just want to have fun. You definitely need admin that is on your side and that knows how to deal and support exchange students. TU admin are unqualified, lazy and unprofessional and that will effect a lot of your experience. If you really want to experience Asia, go to China (Beijing or Shanghai) or Hong-Kong for your exchange. If you have to go to Bangkok, pick some other university (my suggestion is Bangkok University which is centrally located).
