Some courses are taught in Catalan, wich is kind of a bummer. It's not that easy to learn that language, so try to choose courses in Spanish. You don't need to learn Catalan, thought there's many free courses in the university. in language courses you'll meet many erasmus students, try to take advantage of that

It is very important to meet locals and not to hang around with people who speak your mother tongue or English. In Bcn it is quite difficult because many pèeople speak Catalan and the University doesn't care about foreign students who doesnt speak Catalan. So it can be quite difficult in some areas of study to find courses in Castillano. It is recommended to speak at least some Spanish before going to BCN. This was may a very big mistake of mine!
