Exchange rate from the dollar is bad right now- that had a lot to do with it. Cell phones are also more expensive here than in the States.

Don´t stay at students residence, cook your own food, don´t buy several things because at your return it is hard to carry with to many extra items or trying to sell them, prepare a budget and try to add at it. Tyr to make as much friends as you can, sometimes they can invite you or help you in almost everything.
