Overall

I wish I had known...

I wish I had know how easy it was to make friends. I would have stuck my neck out there a lot more, especially at youth hostels, because everyone there is more or less like-minded in that they are travelers looking for good company.

In my opinion:

Everybody loved it, you will too!

Don't worry about money. You can always pay it off later. You can't always travel later though.

Little details, like they don´t expect you to possibly select a class schedule where nothing overlaps. If I would have known that I would have taken more of the classes I wanted first semester and not worried so much about it.

Don't go to long before uni starts. Everything is very well arranged but there is the mañana mañana culture.

Why?

I feel I would interact so much more with people if I was able to consistently come home to native language speakers in their own environment. A better view of culture through family life is preferable as well.

I was very pleased with my housing situation amoungst a Spanish family. Many other international students found themselves living in lesser conditions in various apartments throughout the city, which made me appreciate my situation very much.

Final comments

Travel to the south, it is beautiful there. Local sport is surfing, so if you dig that, you'll be darn happy.

The Universidad de Cantabria organised a flat for myself and 2 friends from university in England acroass the road from university

Very good how they organised our flat, we didnt find out until the day before we went but everything was fine. Any problems we had at the start understanding our land lady was fine as the university helped us with understanding and translation. Excellent!
