I spent less money for housing and food because it's cheaper than in Germany and I used to cook every day instead of eating at the canteen. Nightlife and travel has been more expensive because I wanted to use the opportunity to get to know new people / cultures / countries and the best possibility to do so is while staying abroad.

As food, telephone and accomodation is considerably cheaper in Spain than in Norway. However, Granada's nightlife was not to be missed so I ended up going out a lot more than I was used to do in Norway. The fact that I was in a new country with lots to see, I was also encouraged to travel around in Spain.

Try to find somewhere within walking distance of Granada's university and bus station to save on bus fares - I could easily walk to the university, bus station and supermarket from my shared house near Granada's bullring

The exchange rate was difficult to adjust to at first. Also, you need to buy a mobil phone here. Everyone has one and it is the best way to communicate. I spent 100 euro on the phone and about 30-40 euro a month.

you won't believe how cheap it is compared to England!! You won't have to pass on a night out coz' you are broke...! It's fiesta time every day and at the end of the week you will still have some change in your wallet! Just make sure you have the energy to copy with that...Spanish people are real party animals:-) And for the same price of a studioflat youi can get a 4bedroom house with a beautiful and sunny garden!...just chill out in the cheap way!

All the lecturers give you copies of the material they go through in class. However you are often asked to buy them from the uni shp in the basement. The internet access at the uni is very strict. It's only reserved to students but they have very few computers around. If you are an email addict you'll be spending more money in the internet cafe around the corner!
