For me the best cafe is ART 13,close to the campus of humanities, music is good and if you go there you have to try THE AMERICANO.
During the night CALLE MON is the place to go,there a lot of bar and a lot of people, you have to try the TORRE at PARACALO's bar,it's the best thing I've ever drunk.
And of course you can't miss CALLE GASCONA with its sidrerias (sidra is a tipical drink in Oviedo).
EL CLANDESTINO is a really nice disco-bar and music is really good!!!
Have fun!!!

In the old town (centro antiguo) it is packed with bars and discos. All the places do not have any real closing times, so nightlife goes on till the morning. The best days to go out is the weekend and thursday, last one especially for students. Nice bar with cheap drinks (thursday!) and an international atmosphere is El Asturianu. Nice mix of Spanish and Erasmus students. Overall excellent nightlife in Oviedo. Try Gijon (30 min. by bus or train) also. Great nightlife as well.

I wish I had known...
I think I was well prepared knowing the guy who studied there a year ago as well as knowing Spanish students from Oviedo who studied in Slovakia.

Academic
Course recommendations
There are many to choose,so probably nobody would have problems to find something for himself. The quality is very high, but the teachers are easygoing.

I think it would be better to have some more obligatory work, like small tests during the course not only a big exam at the end.

“Nice Erasmus experience”

Overall
Having Erasmus in Gijon, Asturias has been really nice, the city is stunning and the whole region of Asturias is extremely beautiful, you have plenty to see and do. The only bad thing is the overall university, EPI Gijon. If you want to pass your subjects, you have to study so much that you won't enjoy tour erasmus experience at all. So you either enjoy it or fail most of your subjects. Pretty much everyone hates this university, which is such a shame because it is one of the most beautiful regions in whole Spain. But overall it was a very nice experience despite being a quite wasted semester.

University offers a room in student dormitory, but it i svery expensive and nobody wants to overpay. All international students live in "piso estudiante" - one apartment shared with 2-3 roommates.
