Ribeira at night is wonderful, itīs full of pubs by the Douro river. Piolho and Gestoá Café are the students meeting point. Fantasporto is a festival of fantastic cinema, quite good. Besides, Parque da Cidade, Palacio do Cristal are beautiful parks. Rua Santa Catarina is a downtown street full of shops.

Final comments
Take care of your bag in downtown and Ribeira, there are lot of thiefes. Never buy bus tickets in the bus,itīs more expensive (double price). There is a student festival in may, called Queima das Fitas, that is really amaizing.

It was a bit dificult at first, but I lernt portuguese by assisting to an intensive portuguese course for foreigners. But I was all day long in my laboratory, working alone the most of the time, and I couldnīt improve the languaje.
