If you have friends with cars, buy food from out of town hypermarkets.
Also, accomodation is really expensive if you're easily lured by the convenience of Bocconi housing ads - finding housing in secondamano will be cheaper, although it may feel more isolated.

Considering that I have already learned Italian for 3 years before going to Italy, I had no difficulties at all. Some of the courses I chose were in Italian, but I didn't have the chance to stress that in at the questions asked earlier.
