I wish I had known...
That I would be sucked into the Milanese lifestyle in terms of clothing, food, going out! In terms of costs I thought it would be less of an impact on my bugdet. I was really broke when I returned to the Netherlands.

Italy is great for traveling at a low cost. You can take the train to any city. Particularly the south is a great experience. Be sure to know the language when you arrive abroad, at least a basic communication level is very helpfull.

Choose the spring term and you will love it. It´s not that far to the sea or to the lakes.

Bocconi is the best business school in Italy, who has studied here has no problems to find a job. Also exchange students who want to work in Italy have soms advanteges if they have studied here.

- be prepared to spend a lot of money for housing and going out - if you're going to Milan in the spring term buy yourself a ventilator and something against mosquitos - take part in the trips organized by the student clubs

Overall Bocconi experience
Kenzo V
Italy, Graduate
Business Studies, 2020
Overall
Most professors are highly qualified and the teaching system is a hybrid between the classic Italian system based on the theory and the anglo-saxon system which is more practical, with case studies and group assignments.

There are many opportunities to study abroad, networking events and career fairs to facilitate the entry into the job market.

Milan is also a great place to live, with many events happening all the time, a good night life and many working opportunities.

If basing your choice solely on accademic strength, then Bocconi is not for you. If you want culture and an opportunity to live in Italy, this is the place to be!

Make sure you do take the opportunity to travel. Italian bureaucracy can be hard to navigate at times. Bring all important documentation with you, so that you are prepared.

You don't have that much time to learn a language because you interact so much with other foreign students. So it's better to activate your language skills before you go.

It's a good, well-known university but do'nt expect the teaching methods to be anything extraordinary. From a Nordic point of view, they have few case studies etc. and rely too much on lectures and exams.

The career services is great. People who really wanted to do an internship in Italy, had a good chance of finding a place. In Italy, employers hire interns from foreign countries only if they study at a local university, so it's best to find a job/internship while you are doing your exchange semester.
