Overall
Overall good program. Broad selection of modules to choose from to create the curriculum of your interest. Close mediation and support from tutors, qualified professors/ lecturers.

Pros
No “armchair anthropologist”-professors, practical approach where possible, great culture of discussion
Cons
Would have wished for more discussion about possible job options with this anthropology degree

Vienna University is nice, but unfortunately the international student community is quite quiet there.. But everybody finds friends there. take a language course at the beginning of the semester and you'll find nice people!

Vienna is a great place, I would go back there any time! Just try to make the best out of it, meet many people, travel to the great cities close to Vienna, enjoy the arts and environment of Vienna...! You'll love it! :) ps. Taking a language course before/at the beginning of the term may help you make some friends there!

Lot of theory, not enough practice
Luiza K
Austria, Undergraduate
Translation/Interpretation, 2022
Overall
Overall, the experience was average/good but in the end what was missing was the practice. We learned a lot of repetitive theory about translation in my studies but we barely had to put our oral skills into practice for example.

possibilities and international vibe
Lisa S

Overall
courses are okay, not as diverse as the could be, but with very good and practital-orientated professors, student life is okay, its a huge university and you need to be social and outgoing yourself

Course recommendations
Not really... it depends on what you are interested in. But BWZ (the Center for business studies of the University of Vienna) has lots of good teachers in the different fields of business. However, marketing courses there are generally NOT very "foreign students -friendly"...! Finance courses are very good!

Personal comments
No... just, try to understand the system, and check the list of courses before you have to select yours (the PISWI-system is efficient but courses are not very easy to find on the website).

Always study before and after the classes and You will experience no problems. Do not prepare exams one week before them!
