Double licence
Cloé C
France, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2019
Overall

About the French attitude to work - businesses (even some cafes and restaurants) closing for two hours every lunchtime; also an excessive amount of public holidays where absolutely everything closes - for example, there were three in May in the space of just over 2 weeks. Also, many businesses remain closed on Mondays, such as banks.

It is a pleasant environment and atmosphere; though the standard of the lecutres seemed poor compared to what I was used to in the UK.

It's a good idea to be fairly near to an airport or train station, for easy access on arrival and departure with your large amount of luggage. Try not to spend all your time around people who speak your own language; try to speak the host language even with people who share your own native language.

If what you want is a modern way of teaching and modern courses stay away, if you are going for the nightlife - it is great but expensive

Make sure you are familiar with the city i.e. have some bearings before you go. Be very careful at night as the streets can be dangerous. It is a good base to go travelling from, I particularly liked Annecy.

More about local events for example markets. More advice about chosing courses at University- opportunity to discuss with other students who'd completed the course.

Consider selecting a few third year courses- that way you'll be put into smaller tutor groups studying a specialist subject that you're really interested in. Also, making the extra effort to join societies is really worthwhile.
