Since my academic and professional interests were,and are, focused on translation and languages, the language and communication aspect was a very important element in this living-abroad experience. At the end of the exchange program, I was satisfied with the results at the language level: I could easiy interact with local people and my translation and French language speaking and writing skills had improved notoriously.

Personal comments
The on-campus accomodation at the Universite Laval offers unlimited opportunities to meet people from different cultures and, as a consequence, to appreciate diversity. In addition, and as I have pointed out before, the building was always clean and properly maintained. Security personnel ensured the peaceful living of the students.

Final comments
Canada is a great country with very friendly and open people. But you have to make the first move to get to know them. If you go in winter bring very, very warm clothes, since the temperatures can reach below 30°C. Cheap car rentals for weekends (if above 25 years old, otherwise take the coach. Buy a travel guide book for Quebec/Canada. Go see the whales!!!
