Academic
Course recommendations
there's enough to choose from, however, there are not many undergraduate neuropsychology courses. Avoid taking neuropsychologie sensorielle, very narrow subject, not what I had hoped for...
Course choices must be re-confirmed officially with a 'choix de cours' form, very important!

Personal comments
It's not enough to understand the material, because of the large amount of students, the teachers expect many details. some of them quite useless, all to increase the rivalry a bit. So: learn by heart! It's annoying, but don't worry, very few people fail a course here!

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
It's a good university, though very old, as you will see inside the buildings. It's not as personal as my home university, because it doesn't have the tutorial groups of the problem based learning system. But all in all, good enough!

Personal spending habits
Food, is cheap, for Europeans using the euro, that is. Only certain things as good cheese and wine are expensive.
Calling locally is very cheap, any payphone on the street can be used for 25 cents per conversation, long distance is more expensive, consequently.
Housing is excellent, especially considering that you're living in a big city as Montreal. It's nothing compared to ludicrous prices in Holland!
Nightlife is good, and cheap but they expect big tips, around 15% is 'appreciated'... Very hard for me, as a cheap Dutchman!!! :)
Travel is exccellent, metro and busspasses in one: 31$CAD per month, if you have the required student card (9$CAD) Travel outside of Montreal is good as well, many busses to Québec city, Toronto, Ottawa, etc.

Take out a lot of money at once, it always saves the administrative costs. There are many one dollar shops, so buying the necessary things as cutlery, plates, cups, pots and pans doesn't necessarily have to cost a lot. Go to Walmart fo the bigger things, prices are great and they have everything!! (especially sportsequipment is brilliantly priced!!!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I shared an appartment with 4 other people and I think it was a great experience. And the people I knew who stayed in the Residences weren't so satisfied (small rooms, people don't interact too much ->too many people - 12 p/kitchen)

I was very lucky to find accommodation on my first weekend in Mtl. But I think, depending where you want to be, it's not hard to find nice accomodation for a few months.

“High quality education, high quality profiles and students”
Karen D
Canada, Undergraduate
Economics, 2009
Overall
I had an amazing experience at University of Montreal, surrounded by benevolent, accessible and smart faculty members.
The balance between studies and life is ideal (allows you to have a part time job without being out of breath- of course depends on programs/work). Students really come from all over with strong, interesting and diverse backgrounds. University is pretty inclusive and diverse (from the students to the faculty) and in general flexible (choice of courses, fees payment etc...). Multiple opportunities are there in terms of Association memberships, conferences, cultural activities etc... overall great.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: both campus and own appartment are good enough
Why?
Personal comments
The residencies on campus are, at least by my Dutch standards, pretty cheap, especially because it'S all neatly furnished, yet the room is small, and cooking facilities in the buildings are poor. It's a great way to meet people though, because there is a common room.
