I wish I had known...
I wish they would've told me that they almost exclusively spoke Catalan at the school I went to (ETSEIB). I probably would've come anyway, but it would've saved me a shock and some of my initial desperation.
Also maybe that undergrad students in Spain are really young (18-23, with almost noone any older), as the situation in my home country is very different (a lot of people work for years before going to university).

Final comments
August is THE holiday month in Spain. It is virtually impossible to get anything done. At the university, noone even picks up the phone.
Don't panic if it's only ten days to go til school starts, and you have absolutely no clue how it will be, which classes you will attend, or even where you'll be staying.

Personal spending habits
Food was cheaper. For my mobile I normally have a contract in Holland and there I had a pre-pay card. Accomodation there was smaller and therefor cheaper. I went out more, maily becuase of the wether and boring room mates. I traveled more because I was in another country, although the metro was cheaper than my public transportation card in the Netherlands.
